Medical Staff Coordinator, St. Helena Napa Valley Hospital

POSITION SUMMARY:

·         Independently responsible for meeting management (agenda preparation, minutes, meeting follow-up, etc.) for assigned medical staff departments and committee functions.

·         Assists department, as assigned, with performing credentialing functions for Medical & Allied Health Staff (including appointment, reappointment, privileging, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation, Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE)/Proctoring, and provisional review) to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and regulations, State and Federal requirements, and accreditation standards.

·         Interfaces with various departments and physicians to provide and interpret relevant data enabling identification of any practitioners who may not meet the standards of care for the community.

·         Maintains current knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, hospital policies related to Medical Staff and regulatory agency requirements.

·         Maintains Medical Staff database and official rosters/call schedules

·         Maintains Medical Staff documents, policies & procedures in such a way as to comply with regulatory requirements.

·         Notifies Medical Staff and monitors payment of Medical Staff dues & fees.

·         Maintains a positive relationship with Medical Staff Leadership.

·         Represents administrative issues successfully to influence collaboration between physicians and leadership.  He/she must maintain strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Medical Staff.

·         Other related duties of an increasingly complex nature in conjunction with the needs and growth of the Medical Staff Services Department, at the discretion of the Department Director.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Minimum:

·         Two years’ Credentialing experience in a Medical Staff Office

Desired:

·         Completion of medical terminology course

·         Associates Degree

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

·         CPMSM or CPCS Certification

·         Willingness to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
